After presentation the main feedback points of improvement were:
– The bottles were quite spread out which distorted the type
– The labels added an interesting element in terms of colour which distracted from the type and may not be a good thing
The spread out layout of the bottles was due to the fact that we couldn't source the amount of bottles that we needed in the time we had while still having enough time to construct the actual pavilion. The class suggested lying them down on top of each other in an almost honeycomb pattern which would add structure/strength and also create an interesting reaction to light. The type would also become a lot stronger.
The labels still being on the bottles was mostly due to the fact that we couldn't get them off easily at all and with 121 bottles it just wasn't possible to get them clean within the timeframe. We figured that labels were better than glue. We did also think that maybe the labels would add an extra element to the pavilion in terms of referencing the drinking culture more and showing that nothing significant was done to the bottles in order to turn them from waste into a beautiful structure. Although we did find it diluted the sandblasted type to an extent.
